For one Daisy Canfield Moreno, that is. Daisy lived the life of a princess, growing up on a 50 acre farm in Stone Canyon. She was married to movie star Antonio Moreno for almost a decade; they were in the middle of a divorce when her car plunged 200 feet off of Mulholland Drive on this date in 1933, killing her, making him a very wealthy man. Cousin Doris suggests that maybe it wasn't an accident.

Poor Daisy's death led to Antonio inheriting very large parcels of land in Silver Lake, one parcel of land is called Moreno Highlands and yes, that's where I, Doris Daze, resides. Their estate on Michaeltorena St. was for years the home to a tribe of nuns whose phone number was one digit different than mine. Now the nuns are gone and the estate hosts movie premieres and parties. I attended the "Sleepy Hollow" preem at the former nunnery/honeymoon cottage a few years back.
