"...If you give the people what they want, they will come"

Those words uttered by Red Skelton, at the funeral of despised studio boss Harry Cohn, who died Fifty-one years ago today.

Rita Hayworth was unavailable for abuse this particular evening, so number two punching bag Judy Holliday joins the chief for a night of dinner, dancing, and demoralization:

I enjoyed this LA Times blog on Cohn's funeral.

Our inventory of fine vintage beaded jewelry, now here

We've been working on this for months (hey, you try making a calendar, 72 strands of beads, and four cemetery books at one time, I dare you) but finally we are proud to present the Cobina Cugat Vintage Goods collection of antique beads.

As the site will (soon) tell you: During Cobina's "spa visit" at the State-run institution in Camarillo, CA, she had lots of time on her hands- enough time apparently to fashion some pretty beautiful necklaces and bracelets made out of (largely) vintage materials.

Here is your first look at what we've been doing, and more info as I figure out how to present it best (click to see the entire collection on my picasso web album):

Cobina Cugat Vintage Goods
prices and availability coming in the next couple of days. email me if you want info on any particular thing you see here, some things are being spoken for very quickly.

Thank you

For the couple of days off. Also, today marks a milestone in terms of visitors. Sort of tells me this is worth keeping up. I appreciate your readership.

It all turned to shit Four years ago today

or maybe the pain ended, depending on how you look at it, for Sandra Dee, by all accounts a lovely person.

For a minute I thought Freddie Brisson was signing the thing

Roz didn't want to get her hands dirty so she made her husband leave his prints and put on her high heels. Awkward moment as Raymond Burr and Burt Lancaster passed by while headed towards Burt's villa. "Auntie Mame was here". Indeed, several people go by that moniker around here.

Miss Zimmerman regrets it all turning to shit Twenty-five years ago today

You know, they scattered her ashes on Broadway, which ought to make you throw up, just a little bit in your mouth.
One of the great legends of entertainment of the twentieth century. A little taste of CALL ME MADAM And from an early sixties special

It all turned to shit for Marlon Brando Thirty-six years ago today

You can read all about Wally Cox, but in case you are lazy I plucked this from the text:

He became the roommate of Marlon Brando, who encouraged him to study acting with Stella Adler. Cox and Brando remained close friends for the rest of Cox's life, and Brando appeared unannounced at Cox's wake when he died. Brando is also reported to have kept Cox's ashes in his bedroom and conversed with them nightly.

(Even Cobina doesn't do that. Yet.) And then I found this. Thanks to that author for the photo of Wally. Here is a wee sample of Wally's work from his early fifties show Hiram Holiday:

You celebrate Valentine's Day your way.....

And Pigtails will celebrate his way. Which this year apparently includes wandering through Jayne Mansfield's bathroom with it's shag carpet adorned walls and ceilings. Bet that smelled great after a while.

Seriously, I think he is just doing this to bug Mother

Earlier this morning Pigtails ran into James Stewart in the Bar here at the Garden. Mr. Stewart was retrieving some lost eyeglasses while Pigtails was snarfing for change under the cushions of the banquettes. Seeing yet another opportunity to humiliate Mother by adding another cement notch to his belt, Pigtails now fires up the cement mixer without the least provocation. And now there is no more French's mustard in the villa.

Cobina and Jimmy did have a chance to reminisce about her being his date for the premiere of CALL NORTHSIDE 777

PS Your Mineo is Dead Vol. 2

Depending on how one sees it, Sal was leading sort of a complicated life in the swingin lifestyle of the mid 1970s, part of which apparently occasionally included having sex in this or that alleySal was stabbed in the wee hours of the morning of this date in 1976 right here behind his own apartment complex in a hookup gone very very truly awful bad, absolutely even worse than that time Cobina beat the crap out of Francis X. Bushmanand the view 50 years or so prior. Yes, I know you can't read the writing, click on it. Gonxha's house being built on the left.
Hey, do you want to watch Rebel Without a Cause?you can watch the whole movie if you choose by clicking on the you tube icon.

It all turned to shit Twenty-seven years ago today

Cuz he was found dead today in 1982, room stinkin of cigs and poppers. Mysterious but not especially investigated circumstances. (I did not take the pretty photo above, thank you internet)

But man, he was funny.Four years left to live at this point. He was truly a nut- he attacked a couple of people he knew over the years by actually biting them. Here is some master work from "I Dream of Jeannie"

Mother is at Mass

And though I am not comfortable at all with the expression "fag hag", Cobins is in her newly pinkly remodeled private chapel right now with Cesar Romero, Antonio "Brake Fluid Remover" Moreno, and Ramon Navarro. And they expect a Pancakes Barbara breakfast right after. Just in case you've lost your bearings: Sunset is to the left, Crescent Heights (and the pool) and Schwab's, right across Crescent Heights in front of you, and Hayvenhurst right behind us. It's a small space, no more than 10,000 square feet. Oh, and another Mass crasher, Marcello Mastroianni:who felt the need to add Coppertone to his concrete. Yuk. By the way, have you seen Pigtails? and for Lord's sake keep away from the photographers without his bows.

Cobina is starting to get bugged

Pigtails is definitely getting more concrete play than she. Here is a little background on Deannahere is 17 year old Deanna singing "Amapola" from "First Love"Wow that was intensely boring

i never quite got this one

Do you know about Nick Adams?watch this woman gnaw the furniture, Nick is not far behind her

Next you will tell me Uncle Tonoose is also dead

Just about a year after the suicide of his "Make Room for Daddy" costar, Rusty Hamer, we lost comedian/philanthropist/something about a glass coffee table guy Danny Thomas

Pigtails has invited over a friend

Cobina is strenuously avoiding Dorothy since she accidentally set DL's powder room on fire.

Guess Who is Ninety today?

United Artists was founded on this date. Listen, if you are having trouble following how it would be possible for Cobina to be in this picture, I will get back to you on that.

It all turned to shit Forty-three years ago today

Well, at least it did for Hedda Hopper, who died on this date. Here is Hedda with her dear friend Lucille Ball at the original opening of Van Gogh's "The Starry Night" in 1889.
